In India, we have a living religion. Unlike the rest of the world, many of us talk to our Devas and Devis in our heart of hearts. India is the only nation which witnessed a Ganesha Drinking Milk miracle, which manifested globally.
Sangeeta’s vivid imagination readily absorbed the wisdom, spice and soul of the stories around our deities, reading richly illustrated comics like Amar Chitra Katha… growing up. She started sketching and painting Buddha, Ganesha, Lord Shiva and Devis like Saraswati, Lakshmi ..when her schedule permitted. A family guest visiting from Hong Kong suggested she ‘bling’ up her deities, and so she layered these works with Swarovski crystal, real gold, pearls and even embroidered patches.
Today she has an entire series of larger-than-life deities on a wall in her home..and a newer series of goddesses inspired by the earth, water and healing..
